President / Founder
Adam is a native New Yorker and a proud NYU alum. Prior to his career in travel, Adam studied abroad in Europe and Latin America, and received his MBA from Stern in International Marketing in 1980 (spending a semester in Rio de Janeiro at UFRJ/ COPPEAD). Afterwards he spent several years in New York on Madison Avenue in the advertising industry, honing his skills in product development and management.
Looking to combine his love of travel and marketing, he left advertising and in 1984 opened Brazil Nuts Tours, a company dedicated to creating innovative special interest tours. Under his direction, Brazil Nuts Tours became recognized as a leader in such key travel segments as Ecotourism, cultural tours and corporate meetings and incentives. In 2007 Adam was elected Chairman of the Brazil Tour Operators Association. To meet the demand for quality short-term group travel programs among institutional clients in the educational, NGO and corporate sector, Adam and his wife opened the Destination Partners division in 2001 and have grown the business with an emphasis on strong client service, destination expertise and creative programming and solutions.
Ana De Augustinis
Senior Account Manager
With over 22 years of experience in the travel industry, Ana brings strong core travel management skill sets. Her work at Varig Brazilan Airlines, then in Corporate Travel Services at American Express and at other corporations prepared her well for her role at Destination Partners, where she has become a key player and mentor to the team. Her primary responsibilities include operating and overseeing group travel, especially large institutional programs for universities and corporations, and all air arrangements. Ana typically joins some of Destination Partners’ groups throughout the world including, South and Central America: Costa Rica, Mexico, Panama, Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Peru, Ecuador; Asia: Tokyo, China and Korea; Europe: Germany, Spain, Hungry, Italy and the USA.
After spending a semester abroad in France and traveling around Europe as well as China, Sarah decided to couple her love for other cultures with a Master of Arts in Comparative and International Development Education, focusing on International Education Exchange. This education, along with four years of experience working in the hospitality industry, led her to the travel industry and Destination Partners as Senior Account Executive. She enjoys helping others gain travel experience and cultural knowledge as well as expanding her own to include South America and Africa!
Maria Luisa M. Carter
Vice- President / Founder
With a professional background in the arts, health and education, Luisa received her Masters in Education from Southern Connecticut University. Her varied professional experience, multi-cultural background (born in Brazil, studied in Europe), and her ability to connect with people from all over the world make her a key part of Destination Partners success. As a Given her rich background, Maria Luisa has special interest and expertise in programs relating to the African Diaspora, education, and community service, thereby adding a unique dimension to our offerings. So much so that in 2009 Luisa opened a non-profit organization, Bee Gaia, dedicated to promoting global citizenship through programs of art, education, travel and well-being. Bee Gaia has adopted four projects that it supports and integrates into faculty led programs when appropriate: an orphanage in Haiti, a school for the developmentally challenged in Bhutan, and two villages, one in the Brazilian Amazon and one in Ghana.
Senior Account Executive
With over a decade of professional experience in mortgage & insurance, Holli found the travel world quite by chance. She quickly discovered her passion in South America; travelling, creating & operating leisure programs for individual travel, becoming proficient in both individual & group air systems & processes, and supporting group programs. With over 11 years with us now, her role with Destination Partners is ever evolving, including commercialization & operation of group programs & air support for the division. Her travels around South America include extensive trips throughout Brazil, Argentina, Peru & Ecuador/Galapagos. Most recently her travels have led her over the Atlantic through the U.K., Spain and Hungary. “I’m passionate about culture & diversity, nature & wildlife, and I love sharing my impressions and experiences with prospective travelers”.
Senior Account Executive
After graduating from University of Colorado at Boulder with a degree in Business Management, Julia joined the administration as Executive Assistant for the University’s Presidents Leadership Class (a rigorous four-year academic program designed for 200 of the school’s top undergraduates), where she earned the distinction in the Colorado university system of Outstanding Staff Member. She transitioned into educational travel by working on a 100 day, around-the-world voyage of Semester at Sea serving in the administration as Assistant to the Dean. This was followed by a position in Client Services with EF Educational Tours. Five years ago she joined Destination Partners. In her role at DP, Julia has overseen the design and implementation of in-country tours for Semester at Sea, as well as many NYU departments including Stern, Steinhardt, Gallatin, Tisch, and the SCPS. An avid traveler herself, Julia has visited 20 countries across 6 continents. She cherishes the rich potential of travel to teach and shape those who choose to embrace it and she is excited to facilitate your student's experiences abroad.
Julie has been working in the travel industry, operating, managing, and guiding unique travel programs worldwide, for 15 years. Travel is not only a job but also a passion. Through both work and personal travel, Julie has had the opportunity to experience more than 50 countries and has spent 5 years living abroad in New Zealand and France. She has worked in a variety of exciting destinations worldwide including a semester coordinating student travel programs on the Semester at Sea 50th anniversary Atlantic Exploration voyage as well as managing the on-site operations of more than 60 groups per year in northern Manitoba, Canada for the annual polar bear migration. She has managed active vacations throughout Europe and North America, natural history and wildlife focused travel for the World Wildlife Fund’s exclusive travel provider in multiple countries in Africa, Asia and the Americas, and educational travel worldwide for both Semester at Sea and Destination Partners. Working at Destination Partners gives Julie the opportunity to facilitate invaluable educational experiences through university travel programs by providing the coordination and support necessary to fit each group’s needs.
A native of Northern California, Joanna realized her passion for travel when she participated in an international exchange program as a teenager. Having her eyes opened to a new culture was an invaluable experience for Joanna, and it led her to pursue a BA in Global Studies at Lesley University. As a junior, Joanna sailed around the world with Semester at Sea, visiting 11 countries across 4 continents. Highlights of her trip included trekking in the High Atlas Mountains, staying with a host family in India, and volunteering at a primary school in Vietnam. Upon graduating from Lesley, Joanna worked as an Account Manager at an international education company focused on the development of international student programs at over 300 high schools throughout the US. Joanna draws upon these experiences as she crafts high-quality, educational trips abroad as a Destination Partners Senior Account Executive.
Audra has spent the last 25 years working on conference and events. Assuring that each event exceeds clients' needs and requirements. She has also worked on large events such as the US Open, AT&T, Concours D’Elegance and hundreds of other corporate events, some with just a few people and others for thousands.
She is now applying her attention to bringing travel dreams to life.

Pericles DeSouza (Peri)
Field Operations Manager
A native of Brazil, and now a resident of Europe, Pericles has worked in tourism most of his adult life, combining his passion for travel with his love of people. His role at Destination Partners is to support our large group operations throughout Europe and Africa. His organizational skills and attention to detail have ensured the success of numerous high profile/ large volume group movements.
His academic and technical background is impressive, including A degree in Translation & Interpreting in English/Portuguese at Kensington & Chelsea College in London, an MA in Applied Linguistics from UFSC (Federal University of Santa Catarina) as well as other international certificates in tourism management. He is an accredited Tour Guide by EMBRATUR (South America) and ETOA (Europe). Prior to his work with Destination Partners he has worked as a freelance travel manager and guide for major tour operators both in South America and Europe. He has also worked as an English and Portuguese Language Tutor and as a Translator and Interpreter in English / Portuguese. Pericles lived for many years in Lisbon (“a European city with a touch of Brazil” he writes) and is now based in Valencia in Southern Spain, which not only boasts “the best weather in Europe” but also provides excellent access to our operations in Europe and Africa.
Luciana D’Andrea is a “carioca”, or native of Rio de Janeiro. She has an undergraduate degree in Economics and earned her MBA degree in Marketing at Brazil’s prestigious Fundacao Getulio Vargas University. In her 17 years in the travel industry she has worked with a variety of international clients. She has extensive experience in the MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences & Events) sector coordinating special events and large group movements. She has also especially enjoyed collaborating with clients from the elite Virtuoso consortium, planning and managing highly customized special interest itineraries. Luciana has travelled widely and is tri-lingual in English, Spanish and Portuguese.
Luciana Belfort is a seasoned account executive, joining Destination Partners with 25 years in the travel industry working with a variety of clients from the private, public and non-profit sector including Xerox, Fleischman’s, John Deere, TV Globo, The Wall Street Journal Fundacao Getulio Vargas University and the United Nations. She is experienced in developing tailor-made, special interest group travel as well as managing large events, conferences, meetings and corporate incentives. Luciana holds a degree in Business Administration from University Candido Menzies and enjoys travelling extensively throughout Europe and South America.
Bookkeeper and Office Manager
Toni has spent the last 30 years working and supporting clients, management and partner positions in the accounting, real estate and legal industries. Most recently for HBK CPAs in Fort Myers, Florida as a bookkeeper for a multiple client base. Before relocating to Florida in 2013 was employed with BDO USA LLP as an auditor, paraprofessional focused in the real estate industry inclusive of single government, for-profit, real estate, compilation and review audits for the Cleveland assurance department. She also managed the purchasing and billing of the client base for the technology outsourcing department.
